{"id":3010,"date":"2011-11-22T01:31:58","date_gmt":"2011-11-21T23:31:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sabado100.com.ar\/?p=3010"},"modified":"2011-11-22T01:31:58","modified_gmt":"2011-11-21T23:31:58","slug":"hace-90-anos-se-instalo-%c2%9dthe-river-plate-dairy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sabado100.com.ar\/es-ar\/hace-90-anos-se-instalo-%c2%9dthe-river-plate-dairy\/","title":{"rendered":"Hace 90 a\u00f1os se instal\u00f3 \u00abThe River Plate Dairy\u00bb"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Por Emilio Grande (h.).-<\/strong> La f\u00e1brica de manteca \u00abLas Colonias\u00bb comenz\u00f3 a funcionar en el mes de noviembre de 1921, ubicada en la prolongaci\u00f3n de avenida Brasil -era la antigua ruta de Rafaela a Santa Fe- y lo que es hoy calle Las Colonias del barrio Belgrano, constituyendo alrededor de 22 hect\u00e1reas.<\/p>\n<p>Esta f\u00e1brica pertenec\u00eda a la empresa \u00abThe River Plate Dairy Co. Ltda.\u00bb y en el primer a\u00f1o de actividad lleg\u00f3 a producir 3.000 kilos diarios de manteca. Desde 1906 ya funcionaba como una simple cremer\u00eda recolectora y su producci\u00f3n ten\u00eda como destino a la f\u00e1brica \u00abLa Victoria\u00bb, con sede en Rosario.<\/p>\n<p>La inversi\u00f3n fue de 600.000 pesos moneda nacional y el personal en Rafaela alcanz\u00f3 a unas 120 personas, m\u00e1s los responsables de las cremer\u00edas, entre ellos, Santiago Shine, Tom\u00e1s D\u00edaz, Cornelio Shagen, Vicente Briggiler y Enrique Meyer.<\/p>\n<p>La residencia principal era de un estilo t\u00edpicamente ingl\u00e9s, teniendo 435 metros cubiertos y 135 metros cuadrados de \u00e1rea secundaria y galer\u00edas circundantes. El jard\u00edn ten\u00eda un sistema de circulaci\u00f3n y 18 canillas. El chalet pose\u00eda un sector de dependencias administrativas, la casa del gerente y la parte de los servicios.<\/p>\n<p>Con el paso de los a\u00f1os la firma cre\u00f3 distintas plantas en San Jer\u00f3nimo Norte, Santa Mar\u00eda, Bella Italia, llegando a cerca de sesenta en 1930.<br \/>\nPara tal \u00e9xito \u00abThe River Plate\u00bb dej\u00f3 en manos de un hombre la organizaci\u00f3n de toda la industria lechera en la zona: se trataba del citado Shine, de origen irland\u00e9s.<\/p>\n<p>La administraci\u00f3n central estaba en Buenos Aires y el directorio en Londres. La planta contaba con un comedor y alojamiento para quienes desarrollaban tareas de presencia permanente.<\/p>\n<p>Los cargamentos destinados a la exportaci\u00f3n se atend\u00edan desde Rafaela, ya que se produc\u00edan mantecas de primera y segunda calidad, identificadas con las marcas \u00abMoyosa\u00bb, \u00abIris\u00bb, \u00abDayrico\u00bb y \u00abGolden Eagle\u00bb, como as\u00ed tambi\u00e9n cremas, dulce de leche, case\u00ednas molidas y ventas de cerdos para consumo y de pedigri. Lleg\u00f3 a producir 3.000 kilos de manteca diarios y alcanz\u00f3 la cifra de 12.000 kilos; su crecimiento implic\u00f3 un intento de monopolizar la producci\u00f3n y comercializaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>Muchos fueron los inmigrantes que trabajaron en las distintas cremer\u00edas de la \u00abRiver\u00bb en nuestra ciudad y de la regi\u00f3n, entre ellos, italianos, espa\u00f1oles, polacos, alemanes y suizos. Cumpl\u00edan tareas durante 6 d\u00edas de la semana y deb\u00edan presentarse a \u00faltima hora del domingo para reiniciar sus labores.<\/p>\n<p>Luego de casi cuatro d\u00e9cadas de trabajo y crecimiento en el que la River Plate ten\u00eda el monopolio de las exportaciones l\u00e1cteas, en 1960 el gobierno nacional bajo la presidencia de Arturo Frondizi cre\u00f3 un instituto para regular las exportaciones de las empresas l\u00e1cteas en el pa\u00eds y fue una de las causas principales que motiv\u00f3 su cierre definitivo de la planta en nuestra ciudad en 1961 porque la empresa entendi\u00f3 que esa medida no le favorec\u00eda para sus mercados externo e interno.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fuentes:<\/strong> La Opini\u00f3n, revista 1999; El Norte, \u00e1lbum 1882-1932; Peretti, Edgardo en La Opini\u00f3n, cuatro notas, 1987\/88; Vergara, Mar\u00eda del Carmen, \u00abLa crisis de 1930 en el departamento Castellanos.
