Los mercadillos de Navidad, pequenos y grandes, atraen a visitantes de Alemania y del extrajero incluso a pesar del tiempo desapacible en ocasiones.<br \/>\nLa fiesta de Navidad es celebrada por la Iglesia catolica y la portestante el 24,25, y 26 de diciembre, como fecha del nacimiento de Jesucristo.<br \/>\nEl dia 24 es la Nochebuena (Heilige Abend). En las Navidades muchas familias colocan un arbol de navidad decorado con velas y bolas de colores. Tambien hay arboles de navidad en muchas plazas publicas y en edificios publicos. Esta tradicion viene del siglo XVI.<br \/>\nLa figura del Papa Noel (der Weihnachtsmann) viene del siglo XIX. Antes de esto solo existia el Nicolas. Papa Noel es para los ninos como una figura de cuento de hadas que les trae regalos.
